Sushi
It's not often that she goes to the supermarket, as she much prefers going to the wet market to get her groceries. It means having to take bus 261, a walk across the road from her flat, and then heading towards the basement of the nearest shopping mall AMK Hub. Today was different though, she came back from Fairprice and had in her hand something for me. "ah min ah, wo mai gei ni sushi chi" I could not remember if I was excited to hear that, I went up to her to uncover the food in the small plastic bag. "aiya ah ma, ni zen me mai zhe zong sushi?! wo bu chi ze zong de! ze zong sou shi wo bu xi huan chi de" And I didn't want to eat any of that. It was crabstick in maki, and I'm not a fan of crabstick. It's not quite because of the taste, I was okay with the taste. I've always been dissuaded by my father not to eat any "fake crab meat" as it wasn't healthy and I would not know what sort of fish/seafood they put into the paste. Kind o...
